"let me help you out there"
my sisters secret passion, and she dragged me up with her
After the weekend was over the kids needed some time to relax....in the tub...
so i'm getting tired of buying all these snacks that are loaded with preservatives, surgars, unhealthy fats ect....so what did i do? i made my own crackers.
Rich, buttery Crackers (made out of Yogurt Dough)
The night before cream in a large bowl:
1 cup of plain whole yogurt (I used baby banana yogert for a little flavor)
1 cup of butter, softened
Mix in:
3 1/2 cups of freshly ground spelt or wheat flour (I used wheat flour)
This is what my dough looked like at this point.
The dough would look like this when squeezed in my hand
Cover and leave in a warm place for 12 to 24 hours (this is the “soaking”(click to read why you should soak your grains). Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Knead in 2 tsp of salt, herbs, cheese ect....what ever you think would spruce it up. Using white flour to dust your surface and dough, roll your dough out thin. Cut into strips and then cut into squares.
Place your squares on an ungreased cookie sheet and prick with a fork (you can sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar at this point if you want a sweet cracker. Bake for about 8 minutes and check, keep checking every two minutes until done. They should be browning slightly on the edges, when done. Take off of sheet and place on a cooling rack and enjoy!
